Where is Niagara Falls International Airport, and who flies from it?
Niagara Falls International Airport (IAG) is in Niagara Falls, New York, about 20 minutes from the Rainbow Bridge and the Ontario side of the Falls, 30 minutes from Buffalo and about 150 km from Toronto Pearson. It is a small terminal with a short schedule of low-cost flights — historically Allegiant and other leisure carriers to Florida, Myrtle Beach and a handful of sun destinations. For Niagara-region Ontarians it is the closest US airport; for Toronto travellers it is an alternative to Buffalo when the fare and the schedule line up.
IAG is the quiet cousin of Buffalo: a former air-force base with a long runway, a modern terminal built in 2009, free parking, no queues, and a schedule that changes with the leisure carriers' seasons. It is worth checking before every winter trip, and it is the airport where a chauffeur from St Catharines or Niagara Falls is a thirty-minute booking rather than a two-hour one.

IAG or Buffalo?
| Niagara Falls NY (IAG) | Buffalo (BUF) | |
|---|---|---|
| Airlines | A few low-cost leisure carriers; seasonal | Southwest, JetBlue, Delta, American, United and more; year-round |
| Destinations | Florida, Myrtle Beach and a short list | Most of the US domestic network |
| From Niagara Falls ON | 20–30 min via the Rainbow or Lewiston bridge | 45–60 min via the Peace Bridge |
| From Toronto Pearson | ~110 min including the border | ~120 min including the border |
| Terminal | Small, quick, free parking | Larger, busier |
| Best for | Niagara-region travellers on a leisure route the airport serves | Everyone else |
Check IAG's schedule first; if it flies where you are going on the day you are going, it is the calmer airport. If not, the Buffalo page covers the run to BUF.
The route and the crossing
From Niagara Falls, Ontario the chauffeur crosses the Rainbow Bridge from the Falls tourist district or the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge from the QEW at St Catharines, then takes the Niagara Scenic Parkway or I-190 to the airport off Niagara Falls Boulevard — 20 to 30 minutes including the crossing. From Toronto and Pearson it is the QEW to St Catharines, the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, and I-190 south to the airport: about 150 km and 110 minutes including a normal border wait. The live CBP board shows the delay at every crossing; the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission operates the Rainbow, Whirlpool and Lewiston-Queenston bridges and publishes conditions and tolls, and the toll is inside your fare.
What to carry at the bridge
Every passenger needs a valid passport, NEXUS card or another US Customs and Border Protection land-entry document, children included, plus a visa or equivalent where nationality requires it; permanent residents of Canada carry their PR card as well. The chauffeur asks at pickup, because one passenger without documents ends the trip for the car. On the way home the CBSA declaration and duty-free limits apply at the Canadian booth.
Where the chauffeur drops you and meets you
IAG's terminal is a single building; the chauffeur drops you at the door for departures, and for the return waits inside the baggage-claim hall with a name board, tracks the inbound flight and includes sixty minutes of waiting from touchdown on international arrivals (thirty on domestic). Departure pickups are planned backwards from the airline's check-in cut-off — the leisure carriers ask for two hours — plus the drive, the border wait the board is showing, and a margin.

Who books IAG
Niagara Falls, St Catharines, Welland, Fort Erie and Grimsby families flying south in February; Hamilton and Burlington travellers who find an IAG fare that beats Buffalo; and Toronto travellers combining a Niagara stay with a cheap flight to Florida. Wedding guests flying into IAG for a Niagara wedding are met with a name board and delivered to the Fallsview hotels twenty minutes later — the Niagara route page describes the hotels and the wineries.
Vehicles for the run
The Luxury SUV for a family with a week's luggage and a child seat fitted at booking; the Executive Sedan for one or two; the Executive Sprinter for a group crossing together. The fleet page has capacities for each class.

The fixed fare
The reservation engine quotes a fixed fare for your exact Ontario address and vehicle class: the chauffeur, the vehicle, tolls, the bridge toll, taxes, and on the return curbside pickup at IAG with sixty minutes of waiting from touchdown on international arrivals (thirty on domestic). The border wait is inside it. Gratuity is at your discretion; the flat-rate page explains the whole fare, and the cross-border page covers every other US destination.
Niagara Falls, Ontario from the Toronto side
Travellers arriving at Pearson and heading to the Falls — without crossing — are on the Pearson-to-Niagara route page, which compares every option down the QEW. Hamilton and the Skyway are on the Hamilton page.
What the confirmation contains
Every booking returns an email with the pickup, the airline and flight number, the crossing plan, the vehicle class and the fare; on the day it is followed by the chauffeur's name, mobile number and the vehicle plate. Changes are a reply or a call at any hour.
The airport, in detail
IAG's terminal on Niagara Falls Boulevard is a compact two-level building with the airline counters, security and the gates on one side and the baggage claim on the other; parking is in front of the door and has been free for passengers. The runway is one of the longest in the region, inherited from the air base that still shares the field; the airport's site publishes the current schedule and the live board, which is the thing to check before you book anything, because the leisure carriers add and drop routes by season.
The Rainbow Bridge, the Whirlpool Bridge and Lewiston-Queenston
Three crossings serve IAG from Ontario. The Rainbow Bridge, at the foot of Clifton Hill, is the tourist crossing with a view of the Falls and a queue that grows with the tourist traffic on summer afternoons. The Whirlpool Bridge, a few kilometres north, is NEXUS-only in both directions and the fastest if every passenger holds a card. The Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, at the north end of the gorge off the QEW, is the commercial crossing and the one the chauffeur uses from Toronto, Hamilton and St Catharines. The live board shows all three; the decision is made at pickup.
Timing worked through
A Sunday-morning leisure flight at 9 am from IAG has a 7 am cut-off. From Fallsview that is a 6:20 am pickup with the Rainbow Bridge empty at that hour; from St Catharines 6:15 via Lewiston-Queenston; from Hamilton 5:35; from downtown Toronto 5:00. From Pearson the run is quoted the same way for a passenger connecting from a Canadian flight the night before, usually with an airport hotel in between — the airport hotels page describes that option.
Niagara Falls, Ontario and the wineries
The Ontario side — Fallsview, Clifton Hill, Lundy's Lane, Niagara-on-the-Lake — is twenty minutes from IAG and the wineries of the Niagara Parkway and the Twenty Valley thirty to forty, and a chauffeur meeting an IAG arrival can deliver a family to a Fallsview hotel or a wedding party to a vineyard within the hour. The Niagara route page describes the hotels, the attractions and the day-booking format.
Parking, the terminal and the free-lot question
IAG's free passenger parking has been part of its appeal, and for a Niagara-region resident on a short trip, driving twenty minutes across the Rainbow Bridge and parking is a reasonable choice. The chauffeur earns its place for travellers from Hamilton, Toronto and beyond, for families with luggage at 6 am, for groups crossing together, and for anyone who would rather not clear the border twice in their own car. The airport's site has the parking details and the live board.
The fixed fare, in short
The engine quotes your exact Ontario address to the IAG terminal: chauffeur, vehicle, tolls, the bridge toll, taxes, and on the return curbside pickup at the terminal with sixty minutes of waiting on international arrivals (thirty on domestic). The border wait is inside it; gratuity is at your discretion.
Who else uses IAG
Beyond the winter sun traffic, IAG serves the Niagara region's US-side visitors — guests at the Seneca casino, wine tourists on the New York side, families visiting Niagara Falls State Park — and a share of Toronto-area travellers who found a fare on a route the airport happens to fly. The terminal is small enough that a chauffeur with a name board is visible from the carousel, and the parking lot is small enough that the vehicle is a minute away.
Groups crossing to IAG
A wedding party or a company group flying south together from IAG travels in the Executive Sprinter on one reservation, every passport checked at pickup, the booth processing the vehicle as one; the private shuttle page covers the format and the cross-border page the documents. Recurring cross-border group travel goes on a corporate account.
Weather on the Niagara frontier
The Niagara Peninsula sits between two Great Lakes, and lake-effect snow from Erie and Ontario meets over the gorge in winter; the QEW between Grimsby and St Catharines and the Thruway near Buffalo are the sections it closes. The bridges themselves rarely close, but the plazas slow in ice. The chauffeur's margin follows the forecast; the fixed fare does not move.
What the confirmation contains, in short
The pickup, the airline and flight, the crossing plan, the class, the fare; the chauffeur's name, mobile and plate on the day; changes by reply or call at any hour.

Do children need a passport to cross to IAG?
Yes — every passenger, including infants, needs a valid passport or another CBP-accepted land-entry document. Children travelling with one parent should also carry a consent letter from the other; the CBSA and CBP sites explain the requirement.
