Six classes, one standard

The fleet is organised by what fits, not what impresses: six vehicle classes from a three-seat executive sedan to a thirty-two-seat coach, each with a stated passenger and luggage capacity, all chauffeured, all with winter tyres from November, commercial insurance and the airport authority's pre-arranged registration. Makes are quoted as "or similar" because the car assigned is whichever of that class is nearest your pickup at the hour. The engine only offers classes that carry the passengers and bags you enter.

The airport transfer is a luggage problem before it is a comfort problem, and the fleet is described here in that order — how many people, how many bags, then what the cabin is like. The photographs are of the classes we run; the capacities are the working limits used at booking.

The rear cabin — leather, climate control, power and water in every class

Executive Sedan — 3 passengers, 2 large bags + 2 carry-ons

The everyday airport car and the class the engine offers first, because it fits nine out of ten Pearson arrivals: one or two travellers with a suitcase each. Full-size executive sedans — Cadillac XTS, Lincoln Continental, Mercedes-Benz E-Class or similar — with leather seating, rear climate control, USB power and bottled water, quiet enough for a call on the 427. It is the vehicle for the daily business transfer, the couple heading downtown, the visitor to a Kitchener campus. Book it on any route; it is the base fare on the engine.

Premium Sedan — 3 passengers, 2 large bags + 2 carry-ons

The long-wheelbase flagship class — Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series, Genesis G90 or similar — with reclining rear seats, the kind of sound insulation that turns the Gardiner at rush hour into a lounge, and the presence a corporate account wants for a visiting board member or a client. Same luggage as the Executive Sedan; a different cabin. It is the default for executive arrivals at Terminal 1 and for the Billy Bishop pavilion when the passenger is the company's first impression.

Luxury SUV — 6 passengers, 5 large bags + 4 carry-ons

The family vehicle, the ski vehicle and the long-haul vehicle: full-size three-row SUVs — Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, Chevrolet Suburban or similar — with a proper cargo bay behind the third row, roof-height clearance for golf and ski bags, and a rear-facing, forward-facing or booster child seat installed before pickup if you add it at booking, as Ontario's child-seat rules require. It is the class we send for a family off an international flight with more than two suitcases, for the Muskoka cottage run with the groceries, and for anyone who wants the room. Winter tyres from November on every one.

Executive Sprinter — 14 passengers, 14 large bags

High-roof Mercedes-Benz Sprinter executive vans with forward-facing captain's chairs, standing headroom, a rear luggage compartment and climate control front and back. One Sprinter replaces four sedans for a wedding party, a sports team, a conference delegation or a crew: simpler to track, cheaper per seat, everyone arriving together. It fits the Billy Bishop pavilion curb and the Fallsview porte-cochères, and it is the vehicle on the private airport shuttle page. Equipment bags — hockey, ski, golf — go in the rear compartment; tell us the count at booking.

Stretch Limousine — 8 passengers, occasion luggage only

Lincoln or Cadillac stretch limousines with fibre-optic ceilings, a bar console with glassware and a privacy partition. Not the vehicle for a luggage-heavy airport run — the boot is small and the doors are awkward with a trolley — but exactly right for the wedding-day transfer, the prom, the anniversary or the arrival that is meant to be noticed. Booked for the occasion alongside a Sprinter or an SUV for the bags.

Mini Coach — up to 32 passengers, 32 large bags

Executive mini coaches of 24 to 32 seats with reclining seats, under-floor luggage bays, a PA system and climate control. Conference organisers move delegates from Pearson to a downtown hotel block on it; tour operators run Niagara day trips from the airport hotels; incentive groups use it for the airport-to-resort leg to Muskoka or Blue Mountain. Coach pickups at Pearson use the bus lanes at ground level, and the chauffeur meets the group inside the hall with the board while the coach waits.

Choosing the class

The engine chooses for you in one sense: enter the passengers, the large bags and the carry-ons, and it offers only the classes that carry them. Within those, the choice is comfort and presence — Executive or Premium for one or two, SUV for room, Sprinter or coach for a group. A useful rule from long experience: count the bags before the people. A family of four with four large cases and a stroller is an SUV, not a sedan; a team of twelve with hockey bags is a Sprinter, not two SUVs. If you are unsure, book the larger class; the fare difference on a short run is small and the alternative — a chauffeur arriving in a car that cannot take the luggage — is the one thing we never let happen.

What every class carries

Leather seating, climate control, USB or wireless power, bottled water, and a chauffeur who holds the commercial licence and the GTAA's pre-arranged registration. Every vehicle carries commercial insurance, passes the inspection cycle Ontario requires of livery vehicles, is cleaned between trips and runs winter tyres from November to April. Child seats are fitted at booking; folding wheelchairs travel in any class and the SUV and Sprinter take larger equipment; pets in carriers travel in any class if you tell us.

The "or similar" rule, explained

We quote makes as "or similar" because we assign the nearest available vehicle of the booked class at the hour, not a specific car, and because a promise of a specific model is the kind of promise that gets broken at 4 am. What we do guarantee is the class — its seats, its luggage capacity and its standard. If you need a specific vehicle for a photograph or a film shoot, tell us and we will confirm what is available in writing.

Groups, mixed fleets and standing schedules

For a wedding or a conference we run mixed fleets on one reservation — sedans for the principals, a Sprinter for the party, a coach for the guests — with one confirmation per vehicle and one invoice. Crews and rotations run the same Sprinter on a standing schedule. The private shuttle page and the corporate page describe the formats; the transportation page explains the hourly booking for a day with stops.

Every class at every airport

The same six classes serve Pearson, Billy Bishop, Hamilton, Waterloo, London, Buffalo and Niagara Falls NY, and the cross-border runs on the cross-border page — with the one exception that a coach cannot use the Billy Bishop pavilion curb, where the Sprinter takes its place.

Large bag means a checked suitcase of standard airline dimensions; carry-on means a cabin bag or a backpack. Oversized items — bicycles in cases, golf bags, skis, instruments, strollers — count as one large bag each in the SUV and the Sprinter, and the booking notes are the place to list them.

Winter, and what the vehicles carry for it

Every vehicle runs winter tyres from November to April. The sedans are rear- or all-wheel drive with the electronics that make a January morning on the 401 unremarkable; the SUVs are four-wheel drive with the ground clearance that a snowed-in Muskoka driveway or an unploughed Barrie side street needs; the Sprinter carries chains for the rare day the 400 north of Bradford demands them. Every vehicle carries a first-aid kit, a fire extinguisher, a blanket and a charger for the common phones, because the useful things are the small ones.

Cleanliness and presentation

Vehicles are cleaned between trips — interior wipe-down, vacuum, glass — and detailed weekly; a car that has carried a wet dog or a spilled coffee is pulled from service until it is right. The chauffeur is in a dark suit; the car is dark, unbadged and unmarked, because a corporate client's visitor should not be advertising anyone. Water is in the door; a phone charger is in the console; the temperature is set before you get in.

Accessibility across the fleet

Folding wheelchairs travel in the boot of any class with the passenger transferring to the seat — the GTAA's accessibility service brings passengers from the aircraft to the hall; rigid wheelchairs and mobility scooters travel in the SUV's cargo bay or the Sprinter's rear compartment; the coach takes wheelchairs with the chauffeur's assistance at the steps. Passengers who need a hand from the aircraft are met at the gate by the airport's own accessibility service and by our chauffeur at the meeting point in the hall; note the requirement at booking and the right vehicle is assigned without extra charge. The pickup page explains the handover.

Pets

Pets in airline carriers travel in any class if you tell us at booking; larger dogs travel in the SUV's cargo bay on a cover. Service animals travel in the cabin in every class, as the law requires, and no note is needed.

The stretch limousine, honestly

We list the stretch because it is asked for and because for a wedding or a prom it is the right vehicle, but we will say plainly when it is not: an airport run with luggage, a winter cottage road, a Billy Bishop pavilion pickup. For those the SUV or the Sprinter is the answer, and the engine will steer you there. The wedding format is on the private shuttle page.

How the fare varies by class

The engine prices each class for the same trip; the Executive Sedan is the base, the Premium Sedan and the SUV a step above it, the Sprinter and the coach priced as vehicles rather than per seat. On a short run the difference between classes is small and the larger class is usually worth booking for the room; on a long run — London, Muskoka, the cross-border trips — the class matters more for comfort than for cost. The flat-rate page explains what every class's fare includes.

Booking the right class in thirty seconds

Enter the passengers, the large bags and the carry-ons; the engine hides the classes that cannot carry them and prices the rest; choose the one you want; confirm. If the engine offers only the SUV for a party you expected to fit in a sedan, the bag count is why, and the SUV is right.

FAQ

Fleet: questions answered

Which vehicle should I book for a family of four with luggage?

The Luxury SUV — six seats, five large bags and four carry-ons, with a child seat installed before pickup if you add it at booking. Count the bags before the people.

What does 'or similar' mean?

We assign the nearest available vehicle of the booked class at the hour rather than a specific model. The class's seats, luggage capacity and standard are guaranteed; the make may vary.

How many bags fit in the Executive Sedan?

Two large suitcases plus two carry-ons, for up to three passengers. For more, book the Luxury SUV.

Do all vehicles have winter tyres?

Yes, from November to April, on every class.

Can I request a specific car?

Tell us at booking; for a photograph or a film shoot we will confirm in writing what is available. For an ordinary transfer the class is what we guarantee.

Do you have wheelchair-accessible vehicles?

Folding wheelchairs travel in any class; the SUV and the Sprinter take larger equipment and mobility scooters. Note the requirement at booking and the right vehicle is assigned without extra charge.
