Cross-border chauffeur service from Toronto: how it works
We drive anywhere in the United States from Toronto, Pearson and every Ontario address — Buffalo and Niagara Falls NY in two hours, Detroit in four, New York City and Boston in eight to nine — with licensed cross-border chauffeurs, passports checked at pickup, the bridge chosen on the live CBP board, and the bridge toll, US tolls and the border wait inside a fixed fare quoted before you leave. Rideshare cannot legally do this; we do it daily.
The border is what makes a US trip different from an Ontario one, and it is the reason the ride-hailing apps stop at the bridge. A licensed cross-border operator carries the insurance and the registrations for both countries, the chauffeur knows what the booth will ask, and the fare accounts for the crossing. This page is the hub for every US destination; the two cross-border airports and the live border board have their own pages.

Where we go, and how long it takes
| Destination | From Toronto Pearson | Crossing | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) | ~160 km, ~2 h incl. border | Peace Bridge or Lewiston-Queenston | The Ontario institution for cheap US domestic fares — full page |
| Niagara Falls NY airport (IAG) and Niagara Falls NY | ~150 km, ~110 min | Lewiston-Queenston or Rainbow | Low-cost leisure flights, twenty minutes from the Falls — full page |
| Buffalo downtown, Bills and Sabres games, the outlet malls | ~150 km, ~2 h | Peace Bridge | Game days fill the Peace Bridge plaza; the chauffeur plans around them |
| Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) and Detroit | ~380 km, ~4 h | Ambassador Bridge or Gordie Howe; tunnel for downtown | The London, Ontario alternative to Pearson for US domestic fares |
| Rochester and Syracuse | 2.5–4 h | Lewiston-Queenston or Thousand Islands | I-90 east from Buffalo |
| New York City (JFK, LGA, EWR, Manhattan) | ~800 km, 8–9 h | Lewiston-Queenston, then I-90 and I-81 or I-390 | Same-day is a long day; overnight with a stop is common |
| Boston | ~900 km, 9–10 h | Lewiston-Queenston, then I-90 | Usually with an overnight; corporate and university bookings |
| Chicago | ~830 km, 8–9 h | Blue Water Bridge (Sarnia) or Windsor, then I-94 | Via Michigan |
| Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington | 4–10 h | Peace Bridge, then I-90 / I-79 | Quoted by address |
Every address in the United States is quoted by the reservation engine as a fixed fare. The times are off-peak planning figures including a normal border wait; the live border board shows the delay at every crossing right now, and the chauffeur's route decision is made at pickup and again at the last exit before the bridge.
The crossings, one by one
The Niagara frontier has four bridges into New York — the Peace Bridge at Fort Erie, the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge at the north end of the gorge, the Rainbow Bridge at the Falls and the NEXUS-only Whirlpool Bridge; Windsor has three into Michigan — the Ambassador Bridge, the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel and the Gordie Howe International Bridge; Sarnia has the Blue Water Bridge to Port Huron; and the eastern crossings at the Thousand Islands, Ogdensburg-Prescott and Cornwall-Massena lead into upstate New York. The border board page describes each and links to its operator; the Peace Bridge Authority and the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission publish tolls and conditions for the Niagara crossings.
What every passenger needs
A valid passport, a NEXUS card or another document US Customs and Border Protection accepts for land entry — for every passenger including infants; a visa or an ESTA equivalent where nationality requires it, obtained before the trip; a PR card as well as a passport for permanent residents of Canada; and, for a child travelling with one parent, a consent letter from the other. Declare food, cash over the reporting threshold and anything the officer asks about. On the way home the CBSA declaration and the duty-free limits apply, and the chauffeur has no interest in your purchases beyond a smooth booth. The chauffeur asks at pickup whether everyone has documents, because one passenger refused entry ends the trip for the whole car — and the fare is still due.

Timing: the border is a variable, the fare is not
A cross-border departure pickup is planned backwards from the airline's check-in cut-off at the US airport — the US carriers ask for two hours on domestic flights — plus the drive, plus the border wait the board is showing that day, plus a margin. The Peace Bridge on a Friday afternoon or a holiday weekend can run forty-five to ninety minutes US-bound; midweek mornings it is five. The chauffeur takes Lewiston-Queenston when the board says so, and the bridge toll is inside the fare either way. On the return, the chauffeur meets you inside the US airport's baggage hall with a name board, tracks the flight and includes sixty minutes of waiting from touchdown on international arrivals (thirty on domestic); Canadian customs on the way back is usually quicker.
Long-distance: New York, Boston, Chicago
An eight-hour run is a different kind of booking. It is quoted as a fixed fare including tolls on both sides of the border, it is usually a Premium Sedan or a Luxury SUV for the comfort of the distance, and it often includes an overnight stop that the chauffeur plans with you — Syracuse or Albany on the way to New York, Buffalo or Erie on the way to Chicago via Cleveland. Corporate accounts book it for executives who will not fly, for teams moving equipment that cannot be checked, and for the days the airports close; universities book it for delegations. Each long-distance destination will have its own page here; until then the engine quotes every address.
Groups across the border
A hockey team to a tournament in Buffalo, a company trip to a Bills game, a wedding party flying south from BUF, a school trip to Washington: the Executive Sprinter crosses with fourteen and their bags on one reservation, the Mini Coach with thirty-two, and the booth processes the vehicle as one with every passport in the chauffeur's hand. The private shuttle page covers the group format; the chauffeur handles the paperwork conversation.
Who books cross-border
Ontario families flying from Buffalo for the fare difference; London and south-western Ontario residents using Detroit; corporate travellers on accounts with US offices in Buffalo, Rochester and Detroit; universities and hospitals with cross-border programmes; sports programmes on the tournament circuit; and travellers whose flight at Pearson was cancelled and who need to be in New York tomorrow regardless.

Vehicles for the crossing
The Luxury SUV for a family with a week's luggage and a child seat fitted at booking; the Executive Sedan for one or two to Buffalo; the Premium Sedan for the long runs; the Executive Sprinter and Mini Coach for groups. The fleet page has capacities for each class. Every vehicle carries the registrations and insurance for both countries.
Weather on the frontier
The QEW between Grimsby and St Catharines, the New York Thruway near Buffalo, I-90 across Pennsylvania and I-94 through Michigan are the lake-effect sections; the bridges rarely close but the plazas slow in ice. Winter tyres are standard from November, the margin follows the forecast, and the fixed fare does not move.
What the confirmation contains
Every booking returns an email with the pickup, the destination, the crossing plan, every flight number we are tracking, the vehicle class and the fare; on the day it is followed by the chauffeur's name, mobile number and vehicle plate. Changes are a reply or a call at any hour; a delayed return flight changes nothing.
Buffalo, worked through
A family of four in Oakville flying Southwest from Buffalo to Orlando on a Saturday at 10 am. The two-hour domestic cut-off is 8 am; the QEW from Oakville to Fort Erie is an hour at 6 am; the Peace Bridge on a Saturday morning is fifteen minutes; the I-190 to the airport twenty. The chauffeur proposes a 5:45 am pickup, confirms it in writing, checks passports at the door, and the family is at the departures curb at 7:45. The Luxury SUV was quoted a month earlier for the Oakville address with the bridge toll inside it, and the fare has not moved. On the return, the chauffeur is in the BUF baggage hall with a board, the Canada-bound crossing at 11 pm is quick, and Oakville is reached at 1 am. The Buffalo airport page has the rest.
Detroit, worked through
A London, Ontario executive flying Delta from Detroit to Atlanta at 7 am. The cut-off is 5 am; the 401 from London to Windsor is two hours; the Ambassador Bridge at 4 am is empty; the I-94 to Detroit Metropolitan twenty-five minutes. A 2 am pickup in London, confirmed, the Premium Sedan, and the executive sleeps to the bridge. The alternative — the two-hour run east to Pearson for a connection through Toronto — costs the same in driving and more in fare, which is why the London airport page mentions Detroit at all.
New York, worked through
A corporate team of six with equipment that cannot be checked, Toronto to Manhattan. The Luxury SUV leaves the office at 6 am, crosses at Lewiston-Queenston at 8, takes I-90 east and I-81 south through Syracuse and Binghamton, stops for lunch in Pennsylvania, and reaches the Midtown hotel at 3 pm. The fixed fare includes the bridge, the Thruway and the Pennsylvania and New Jersey tolls; the chauffeur stays overnight and drives the return two days later on the same booking. It is a long day and it is cheaper than six last-minute business-class fares plus the cargo.
NEXUS and the fast lanes
A NEXUS card gives every holder in the vehicle the dedicated lane at the Peace Bridge, Lewiston-Queenston and the Windsor crossings, and the Whirlpool Bridge is NEXUS-only; the lane is usable only when every person in the car holds a card, so a family with one non-member uses the standard lane. Our chauffeurs hold NEXUS; whether the lane is used depends on the passengers. The CBSA and CBP sites explain enrolment, and it is worth it for anyone who crosses more than a few times a year.
Cross-border to the USA: questions answered
Do you carry the vehicle's paperwork for the border?
Yes — every vehicle carries the registrations and insurance for both countries, and the chauffeur carries the operator's cross-border authority; passengers carry only their own documents.
Can you pick up in the United States and bring me to Toronto?
Yes — from Buffalo, Niagara Falls NY, Detroit and any US address, with the chauffeur meeting you inside the airport's baggage hall or at your door, Canadian customs on the way back, and the fixed fare quoted before you book.
Can a limo from Toronto cross into the United States?
Yes — a licensed cross-border operator with the registrations and insurance for both countries can, and we do daily. Rideshare drivers generally cannot carry passengers across the border.
How long does it take from Toronto to Buffalo airport by car?
About two hours including a normal border wait via the QEW and the Peace Bridge; longer on Friday afternoons and holiday weekends. The live border board shows the current delay.
Do you go to New York City and Boston?
Yes, as fixed-fare long-distance bookings of eight to ten hours, usually in a Premium Sedan or Luxury SUV, often with an overnight stop the chauffeur plans with you.
Are bridge tolls and US tolls included?
Yes. The bridge toll, US highway tolls and the border wait are inside the fixed fare quoted at booking.
What documents do we need?
A valid passport, NEXUS card or another CBP-accepted land-entry document for every passenger including infants, a visa or equivalent where required, a PR card for permanent residents, and a consent letter for a child travelling with one parent.
What happens if a passenger is refused entry at the border?
The trip ends at the crossing for the whole vehicle and the fare is due; that is why the chauffeur checks documents at pickup.
Which crossing do you use to Detroit?
The 401 to Windsor and the Ambassador Bridge or the Gordie Howe International Bridge, then I-94 to Detroit Metropolitan; the tunnel for downtown Detroit.
