How far is Oshawa from Pearson Airport?
Oshawa is about 75 km east of Toronto Pearson. The direct road is Highway 401 across the entire width of Toronto, 55 to 75 minutes off-peak and unpredictable in the commute; the alternative is the 407 ETR toll highway across the top of the city, which is longer but reliably 60 to 70 minutes at any hour. Pickering and Ajax are 15 to 20 minutes closer; Courtice and Bowmanville 10 to 15 further. A pre-booked chauffeur picks the road at pickup and the toll is inside the fixed fare.
Durham Region — Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Clarington and the townships behind them — is the east end of the Greater Toronto Area, and its airport problem is geography: Pearson is on the far west side, and everything between is Toronto. The 401 through Scarborough and North York is the busiest highway in North America by some counts, and a Pearson run that takes fifty minutes at 10 pm can take ninety at 5 pm. This page is about how that is managed, and why Durham travellers who fly often stopped doing it themselves.

Options from Pearson to Durham, compared
| Option | Cost, one-way | Door-to-door time, off-peak | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-booked chauffeur (this service) | Fixed fare by address; 407 toll included if used | 55–75 min | None — road chosen at pickup, luggage handled, flight-tracked |
| UP Express + GO Lakeshore East | UP fare + GO fare | 1h 45 – 2h 15 via Union Station | Two trains and a transfer with bags; then a taxi from the GO station |
| Drive and park at Pearson | Fuel + parking per day | 55–75 min + lot shuttle | The 401 westbound at 6 am and eastbound at 11 pm, both yourself |
| Airport taxi or limo from the curb | GTAA zone rate for Durham | 55–75 min after the queue | Meter-blind to the 401; no flight tracking |
| Rideshare | Dynamic; surges on arrival waves | 55–75 min | A 75 km trip is often declined |
The GO Lakeshore East line is Durham's commuter railway and it is frequent and reliable — but it runs to Union Station downtown, and the airport leg is the UP Express from Union back out to Pearson. It works for a solo traveller with hand luggage; with a family and checked bags it is two platforms, a transfer and a taxi at the end.
The 401 or the 407: the chauffeur's decision
Two roads cross the top of Toronto. Highway 401 is free, direct and — between the 427 and the Don Valley Parkway — the most congested stretch of highway in the country from 6:30 to 9:30 am and 3:30 to 7 pm on weekdays. The 407 ETR runs parallel ten kilometres north, is tolled by distance and time of day, and is almost never congested. From Pearson the chauffeur can take the 427 north to the 407 and run it east to Brock Road in Pickering or Highway 412 to Whitby, or take the 401 the whole way. The decision is made at pickup on the Ontario 511 boards, and — this is the point — the toll is inside your fixed fare. A curbside taxi or a rideshare driver has every incentive to avoid the 407; our chauffeur has none.
Timing by hour, from experience:
- Before 6 am, after 8 pm, weekends: 55–65 minutes on the 401 to Oshawa; 45 to Ajax.
- Weekday 6:30–9:30 am: eastbound is against the commute but the 401 collectors still crawl through Scarborough; 70–85 minutes, or 65 on the 407.
- Weekday 3:30–7 pm: the 401 eastbound is the commute itself; 90 minutes or more. The 407 does it in 65–70. The chauffeur takes the 407.
- Winter: the 401 through Toronto is the best-cleared highway in the province; the 407 is cleared as fast. Snow rarely decides this route — the commute does.
Our live traffic page shows both roads right now; if you want to know what the 407 would cost you as a private driver, the toll calculator uses the published 2026 rate structure.

Durham addresses and what to tell us
Oshawa's Lakeridge Health hospital on Alexandra Street, Ontario Tech and Durham College on Simcoe Street North, the GM plant, and the downtown hotels are all straightforward drops; the Tribute Communities Centre on a Generals night closes Bond Street. Whitby's downtown and the Port Whitby marina area, Ajax's waterfront and Pickering's Nautical Village are all quoted as their own addresses. Courtice, Bowmanville, Newcastle and the townships — Uxbridge, Port Perry, Brooklin — are on the same engine at their own distances. Put a suite number, a gate code or "call on approach" in the booking notes; everything you type reaches the chauffeur.
Departures from Durham: the westbound morning
The morning run to Pearson is the hard direction — the 401 westbound from Oshawa between 6 and 9 am is the commute, and the 407 is the road that makes a 7 am departure pickup rational. The check-in cut-off is the fixed point: three hours before an international flight, two before domestic or US pre-clearance. Add the drive for the hour and a fifteen-minute margin; we confirm the pickup in writing and the chauffeur is early. Drop-off is at the departures door of the right terminal — the terminal finder confirms it — and the departure service is described in full here.
Arrivals: met at the terminal, driven across the city
Give us the flight number and the pickup follows the airline's live arrival time; sixty minutes of waiting are included from touchdown on international arrivals (thirty on domestic). The chauffeur waits inside Terminal 1 beside the pre-arranged desk near Door A, or in the Terminal 3 arrivals hall by baggage claim, with your name on a board — the Pearson guide shows both. Then the 407 or the 401, and Durham in an hour. Add the return when you book and both legs are confirmed together.
Vehicles for the Durham run
The Executive Sedan for one or two travellers; the Premium Sedan for a visiting executive heading to the GM or Ontario Power Generation offices; the Luxury SUV for a family with a week's luggage and a child seat fitted at booking; the Executive Sprinter for a team or a wedding party. The fleet page lists every class and its capacities. Corporate travellers in Durham's energy, automotive and health sectors use a corporate account so every trip is on one invoice.
What the fixed fare covers
The reservation engine quotes a fixed fare for your exact Durham address and vehicle class: the chauffeur, the vehicle, tolls including the 407 whenever it is used, taxes, curbside pickup at the terminal on arrivals, and sixty minutes of waiting from touchdown on international arrivals (thirty on domestic). It does not change with the 401. Gratuity is at your discretion. The flat-rate page explains how the fixed fare compares.

Continuing east: Port Hope, Cobourg, Peterborough and Kingston
Port Hope and Cobourg are thirty to forty minutes past Oshawa on the 401; Peterborough is fifty minutes north-east via Highway 115; Belleville and Kingston further still. All are quoted as their own addresses on the same engine, and the road decision across Toronto is the same. Travellers heading to the Thousand Islands crossing and upstate New York are covered on the cross-border page.
Durham by the hour: a worked example
A WestJet flight from Calgary lands at Terminal 3 at 5:10 pm on a Wednesday. Baggage and the walk take twenty-five minutes; the chauffeur is in the arrivals hall by baggage claim with a board. At 5:40 pm the 401 eastbound through Scarborough is at its worst of the day — the Ontario 511 boards show slow traffic from the 427 to the DVP — so the chauffeur takes the 427 north to the 407 and runs it east to Highway 412, down to the 401 at Whitby and into Oshawa by 6:50 pm. The 401 the whole way would have been 7:20 or later. The 407 toll is inside the fixed fare, which was quoted at booking three days earlier and has not changed. That is the whole logic of the route, and it repeats every weekday afternoon.
The GO alternative, worked through
If you take the train: the UP Express from Terminal 1 to Union Station is 25 minutes; the GO Lakeshore East train from Union to Oshawa GO is about an hour, with departures every fifteen to thirty minutes in the peaks and half-hourly to hourly otherwise; then a taxi or a ride from Oshawa GO, which is at Bloor Street near the 401, to your address. Allow one and three-quarter to two and a quarter hours from the arrivals hall with the connection, carrying your own bags between the UP platform and the GO concourse at Union. For a solo traveller with hand luggage it is reasonable. For anyone else it is the reason this page exists.
Landing at Terminal 1 or Terminal 3
Air Canada and Star Alliance flights land at Terminal 1; WestJet, Porter's Pearson flights, Air Transat, Sunwing and most other international carriers at Terminal 3. The chauffeur's meeting point differs — beside the pre-arranged desk near Door A at T1, in the arrivals hall by baggage claim at T3 — so the booking asks for the flight number and we work it out from the airline's data. The terminal finder does the same for you.
What the confirmation contains
Every booking returns an email with the pickup address, the time, the flight number we are tracking, the vehicle class and the fare; on the day it is followed by the chauffeur's name and the vehicle plate. Changes are a reply to that email or a call to the number on it, at any hour. Flight-number changes are free; a delayed flight changes nothing because the pickup follows the aircraft; address and class changes are re-quoted by the engine.
Events in Durham and Toronto's east end
A Generals game at the Tribute Communities Centre, a concert at the Oshawa Music Hall, the Durham College convocation, or — on the way — a Blue Jays game at Rogers Centre or a show at Scotiabank Arena: tell us the event at booking and the chauffeur sets the pickup or the drop on the street that works, not the one the map app suggests. Event nights are also the nights the 401 and the Gardiner close lanes, and the 407 earns its toll.
Pearson to Oshawa & Durham: questions answered

The reservation engine quotes a fixed fare for your exact Durham address and vehicle class before you fly, including tolls — the 407 whenever the chauffeur uses it — taxes, curbside pickup at the terminal and sixty minutes of waiting on international arrivals (thirty on domestic). GTAA curbside taxis use a published zone rate for Durham but do not include the 407.
How long does it take from Pearson to Oshawa?
About 55 to 75 minutes off-peak on the 401; 90 minutes or more in the weekday evening commute on the 401, or 65 to 70 on the 407 at any hour. Ajax and Pickering are 15 to 20 minutes closer.

When it is faster — usually weekday commute hours — yes, and the toll is inside your fixed fare. The decision is made at pickup on the live Ontario 511 boards.

Not a direct one. The UP Express runs to Union Station and the GO Lakeshore East line runs from Union to Oshawa — about one and three-quarter to two and a quarter hours with the transfer.

Yes. Every address in Durham Region is quoted by the engine as its own, including the townships north of the 407.
What time should I leave Oshawa for a morning flight from Pearson?
Work back from the check-in cut-off — three hours before international, two before domestic or US pre-clearance — add 60 to 85 minutes for the westbound morning drive and a fifteen-minute margin. We confirm the time in writing.
