How long does it take from London, Ontario to Pearson Airport?
London to Toronto Pearson is about 190 km east on Highway 401 and takes roughly two hours off-peak — 115 to 140 minutes depending on the hour and the Milton-to-Mississauga stretch. VIA Rail runs London to Union Station in about two hours, after which the UP Express takes you back out to the airport. A pre-booked chauffeur collects you at home, drives door to terminal for a fixed fare, and on the way home meets you inside the arrivals hall.
London has its own airport — London International (YXU) handles Air Canada and WestJet regional flights plus seasonal sun services — and for a Toronto or Calgary connection it is often the right choice. But for most international itineraries the fares and the schedules from Pearson win, and Western University, London Health Sciences Centre, the insurance and financial head offices and the city's manufacturers all send travellers up the 401 every day. That two-hour run is this page.

London to Pearson: the options compared
| Option | Cost, one-way | Door-to-door time, off-peak | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-booked chauffeur (this service) | Fixed fare by address, quoted before you book; tolls included | ~2 hours | None — at your door at the hour the flight demands, dropped at the terminal door |
| Drive and park at Pearson | Fuel + long-term parking per day at the GTAA's published rates | ~2 hours + lot shuttle | Four days' parking plus fuel both ways usually exceeds a chauffeur for two; and it is you driving home after the red-eye |
| VIA Rail to Union + UP Express | VIA fare + UP fare | 3–3.5 hours with the connection | Fixed timetable, luggage carried yourself, a change at Union with your bags |
| Shared airport shuttle | Per-seat | 2.5–3.5 hours with pickups | Timetable and stops |
| Fly YXU to Pearson | Airfare | 1 hour flight + connection | Only helps if the onward flight is on the same ticket |
VIA Rail is a comfortable railway and the London–Toronto corridor is its busiest Ontario route, but it is a downtown-to-downtown service; the airport leg is the UP Express back out of the city, which is an hour of your day and a suitcase on your shoulder at Union. For a family or a business traveller with a deadline, the chauffeur is the option that removes the variables.
The 401 from London: timing and the sections that matter
The route is the 401 eastbound the whole way — past Woodstock, through the higher ground south of Kitchener, past Cambridge and Milton, and into the collector-express system at Mississauga before Highway 427 north to the airport. Three sections decide the time:
- London to Cambridge (90 km): open, rural and fast at any hour. Fifty-five minutes.
- Cambridge to Milton (35 km): the winter section. It crosses the Escarpment shoulder, catches squalls, and is the stretch most often closed for pile-ups in January and February. Twenty-five minutes when clear.
- Milton to the 427 (40 km): the commuter section. Twenty-five minutes off-peak, forty-five to sixty between 6:30 and 9 am on a weekday. The chauffeur uses the 407 ETR from Milton to the 427 when the Ontario 511 boards show the 401 backing up, and the toll is inside your fixed fare.
Off-peak, the whole run is 115–125 minutes. A weekday morning arrival at Terminal 1 for a 10 am flight means leaving London at 5:30, not 6:30. Our live traffic page shows the 401 in real time; the chauffeur is watching the same feed from the moment the pickup is assigned.

Departures: planned backwards from the check-in cut-off
Every London booking is timed from the airline's cut-off, not from a round number. International departures want you at Pearson three hours ahead; domestic and US pre-clearance flights, two. Add the drive for that hour, add a twenty-minute margin because this is a long route, and that is the pickup time on your confirmation. A 7 am flight to London Heathrow means a 1:45 am pickup in London, Ontario; a 2 pm flight to Vancouver, a 9:45 am pickup. The chauffeur is at the door early, the luggage goes in, and the two hours are yours — most travellers sleep. Drop-off is at the departures door of the right terminal: Terminal 1 for Air Canada and Star Alliance, Terminal 3 for WestJet, Porter's Pearson flights, Air Transat, Sunwing and most others. The terminal finder confirms it; the departure service is described in full here.
Arrivals: the two-hour drive you do not have to do
Coming home is where the value is plainest. You have flown from Frankfurt, cleared customs at Terminal 1, and it is 9 pm. The chauffeur is at the pre-arranged curb outside Door A — or, with meet and greet added, inside the hall beside the pre-arranged desk with your name on a board — the Pearson guide shows exactly where — and the pickup has followed the airline's live arrival time, with sixty minutes of waiting included from touchdown on international arrivals (thirty on domestic). Two hours later you are in your own driveway in Old North or Byron, having done nothing but sit. Compare that with collecting a car from the Value Park lot and driving the 401 west at 10 pm on European time. Add the return leg when you book the departure and both are confirmed together.
Western, the hospitals and the corporate account
Western University brings visiting faculty, recruits and conference delegations through Pearson weekly; London Health Sciences Centre and St Joseph's host visiting clinicians; the city's insurance, food-processing and automotive-supply companies send executives out and bring customers in. They book on a corporate account: one profile with cost centres, assistants booking by reference, vehicle standards set once, and every trip on one monthly invoice with the traveller, the flight and the fare. Private travellers use the same vehicles at the same fixed fare — the account only removes the paperwork.
Vehicles for the long run
Two hours in a car makes the class choice matter more than on a downtown hop. The Executive Sedan is right for one or two travellers; the Premium Sedan — long wheelbase, reclining rear seats, quieter — is what a visiting board member or a surgeon flying overnight should be in. Families use the Luxury SUV with its cargo bay and a child seat fitted at booking; teams and delegations the Executive Sprinter for fourteen. The fleet page lists capacities and photographs.
What the fixed fare covers
The reservation engine quotes a fixed fare for your exact London address and vehicle class: the chauffeur, the vehicle, tolls including the 407 if used, taxes, and on arrivals curbside pickup at the terminal with sixty minutes of waiting from touchdown on international arrivals (thirty on domestic). It does not move with traffic, weather or the hour. Gratuity is at your discretion. The flat-rate page explains how the fixed fare compares with the alternatives.
Get a fixed fare for London to Pearson
St Thomas, Strathroy, Woodstock, Ingersoll and beyond
Every address in Middlesex, Elgin and Oxford counties is quoted by the engine as its own. Woodstock and Ingersoll are thirty to forty minutes closer to Pearson; St Thomas and Strathroy ten to fifteen further. Sarnia, Chatham and Windsor further west are served on the same engine at longer distances, and travellers heading to a Detroit departure from Windsor are covered on the cross-border page. If your flight is from London International itself, that page explains the pickup at YXU.
Winter, and the section between Cambridge and Milton
From December to March the pickup margin on this route is longer and the chauffeur's route decision is made on the morning's 511 feed. If the 401 closes between Cambridge and Milton, the fallback is Highway 8 to Kitchener and the 401 east from there, or Highway 6 south from Guelph to the 403. Our vehicles carry winter tyres; the fixed fare does not change when the run takes thirty minutes longer. What you avoid is the drive itself.
Which terminal, and where the chauffeur stands
Air Canada and Star Alliance flights use Terminal 1, with US pre-clearance at its north end; WestJet, Porter's Pearson flights, Air Transat, Sunwing and most other international carriers use Terminal 3. The chauffeur's meeting point differs — beside the pre-arranged desk near Door A at T1, in the arrivals hall by baggage claim at T3 — so the booking asks for the flight number rather than the terminal and we work it out from the airline's own data. If you are connecting at Pearson and want a car between a long-haul arrival and a domestic departure, or a night at an airport hotel, the airport hotels page covers the strip and the shuttle question.
Groups, teams and the Sprinter
London sends teams: Western's varsity programmes, the London Knights' travelling supporters, corporate delegations to trade shows, church and school groups on a March-break trip. A group of fourteen with luggage travels in the Executive Sprinter on one reservation; thirty-two in the Mini Coach. Everyone leaves London together, arrives at the terminal together and — on the way home — is met by one chauffeur with one vehicle — inside the hall with one board if the group adds meet and greet. For a sports team the equipment bags decide the vehicle, and the engine only offers classes that carry what you enter.
What the confirmation contains
Every booking returns an email with the pickup address, the time, the flight number we are tracking, the vehicle class and the fare; on the day it is followed by the chauffeur's name and the vehicle plate. Changes are a reply to that email or a call to the number on it, at any hour. Flight-number changes are free; a cancelled flight moves the pickup with one message; address and class changes are re-quoted by the engine. For a London departure at 1:45 am the certainty that a named chauffeur in a known car is coming is the whole product.
Rideshare on a 190-kilometre trip
The honest comparison with the ride-hailing apps is availability, not price. A 190-kilometre trip at 2 am is one most drivers decline, and the second request surges. A pre-booked chauffeur has been assigned the evening before, has the flight number, and is at the door early. If the airline cancels overnight, one message moves the pickup. Frequent flyers in London stopped gambling on the app for the early departures for that reason alone.
London ON to Pearson: questions answered
Can you meet a visiting speaker at Pearson and bring them to Western?
Yes. Give us the flight number; the chauffeur meets the guest at the terminal door — or inside the arrivals hall with a name board if you add meet and greet and delivers them to the campus building or the hotel. Departments book this on a corporate account with cost-centre coding.
How much is a limo from London, Ontario to Pearson Airport?
The reservation engine quotes a fixed fare for your exact London address and vehicle class before you book. It includes the chauffeur, tolls — including the 407 if used — taxes, and on arrivals curbside pickup at the terminal with sixty minutes of waiting on international arrivals (thirty on domestic). For a trip of more than a night or two it usually beats airport parking plus fuel for two travellers.
How long is the drive from London to Pearson?
About two hours off-peak on the 401 — 115 to 140 minutes depending on the hour. The Milton-to-Mississauga section adds twenty to thirty minutes in the weekday morning commute.
What time should I leave London for a morning flight from Pearson?
Work back from the check-in cut-off: three hours before an international departure, two before domestic or US pre-clearance, then add the two-hour drive and a twenty-minute margin. A 7 am international flight means a pickup around 1:45 am.
Is there a train from London to Pearson Airport?
VIA Rail runs London to Union Station downtown in about two hours; from Union the UP Express takes you back out to Pearson in 25 minutes. Allow three to three and a half hours in total with the connection.
Do you pick up in St Thomas, Woodstock, Strathroy and Sarnia?
Yes. Every address in southwestern Ontario is quoted by the engine. Woodstock is about forty minutes closer to Pearson than London; Sarnia about an hour further.
What happens if the 401 closes in winter?
The chauffeur takes Highway 8 to Kitchener or Highway 6 to the 403, whichever Ontario 511 shows is moving. The pickup margin is longer from December to March and the fixed fare does not change.
