Keep your car and lose the driving: a trained, licensed chauffeur takes the wheel of your own vehicle for $95 an hour all-in, taxes and 20% gratuity included, with a 4-hour minimum within the city.
Can I hire a chauffeur to drive my own car in Toronto?
Yes. PearsonAirportTransfer.com supplies a professional chauffeur who drives the car you already own, at $95 an hour, taxes and 20% gratuity included, with a 4-hour minimum for work within the city. Out of town the rate becomes $142.50 an hour, plus the chauffeur's hotel when a night away is needed and a $100 flat travel allowance. No kilometre charge applies, because the car and its fuel are yours. Your own auto policy must cover a hired driver, so confirm that with your insurer before the first booking.
Plenty of people in the GTA own a car they are fond of and simply no longer want to drive it themselves on every trip. An executive has a long-wheelbase S-Class in the garage in Rosedale that sits idle because the drive down to King and Bay is wasted time. A retired couple in Thornhill still own the Lexus but would rather not merge onto the 401 at dusk. A surgeon's patient cannot legally drive home after sedation. A family wants their SUV at the cottage on Lake Rosseau without anyone giving up Friday evening to the 400. For each of them the answer is the same: keep the car, and book the person.
The service is the chauffeur-only line on our rate card. You get the same screened, licensed chauffeurs who drive our company fleet, dressed the same way and briefed the same way, but they arrive at your door on their own and take over your vehicle for the hours you book. Everything else on this page explains how that works, what it costs, where it makes sense, and where one of our own cars would serve you better.
Tell us the car and the plan. Send the make, model and year, where it is parked, the start time and the legs of the day through the online booker or the contact form. Electric, hybrid and petrol cars are all fine; mention anything unusual, such as a manual gearbox, a roof box or a trailer hitch.
Confirm your insurance. Call your broker or insurer and ask, in plain words, whether the policy covers a hired professional driver operating the car with your permission. We do not supply insurance for your vehicle, so this step matters.
Meet the chauffeur at the car. The chauffeur arrives at the agreed address, walks around the car with you, notes the fuel or charge level and any existing marks, and adjusts the mirrors and seat.
Drive the day. The chauffeur drives every leg, waits with the car between stops, keeps it locked and attended, and follows your instructions on where to park.
Hand it back. At the end, the car is returned to your garage, driveway or a parking spot you name, and the keys go back to you or to whoever you nominate.
Billing runs by the hour from the booked start time, with the 4-hour minimum applying within the city. Overtime is never a problem: if the dinner runs late, the extra time is simply billed at the same hourly rate.

Your own seats, your child seats, your cottage car
For pure hours inside Toronto your own car is the cheaper route: four hours cost $380 against $620 in our business sedan. Our car wins when you need a backup vehicle on standby, when the passengers are guests who expect a recent-model black car at the curb, or when you would rather not put kilometres and wear on your own vehicle. The full rate card, including monthly blocks, sits on our chauffeur cost page, and the cars themselves appear in the vehicles section below.
Insurance: the one question to settle before booking
We are direct about this because it is the part people skip. When our chauffeur drives your vehicle, it is your car, on your plate, under your auto policy. In Ontario every vehicle must carry its own insurance, and many personal policies extend coverage to anyone driving with the owner's permission, but terms vary between insurers and some policies treat a paid driver differently from a family member or friend. The only person who can answer for your policy is your insurer or broker.
Ask them three things in writing: whether a hired professional chauffeur is covered while driving the car with your consent; whether any rated or excluded drivers on the policy affect that; and whether trips outside Ontario, for example to Buffalo or Detroit, change anything. The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario publishes plain-language guidance on how auto insurance works in the province, and the Insurance Bureau of Canada explains the basics of who and what a policy covers. Keep the insurer's answer on file; if your company owns the car, check the fleet policy with whoever manages it.
We do not invent coverage we do not hold. Our chauffeurs are screened, licensed and trained, and the terms of each engagement are set out in the written agreement, but the policy that protects your car is the one you already pay for.
Who books a chauffeur for their own car
The executive with a car worth riding in
Some of the best rear seats in Toronto belong to private owners: S-Class, 7 Series, G90, Range Rover, Escalade. An executive who already owns one of these does not need ours. A chauffeur collects the car from the garage in Forest Hill or the condo tower at Yorkville, drives down to the office on Bay Street or to meetings in the Mississauga airport corridor, and keeps the car on hand for the afternoon. Book recurring hours and the same person turns up each time; for a standing arrangement, the monthly chauffeur service reserves blocks of 40, 80, 120 or 220 hours, and chauffeur-only hours can be reserved that way too, from $3,800 for 40 hours.
Seniors who still own a car but prefer not to drive it
Many older drivers in North York, Oakville and Markham keep the car long after they stop enjoying the traffic. A chauffeur who drives it lets them keep their routines: the Tuesday bridge club, the specialist appointment at Sunnybrook, the grandchildren's recital in Richmond Hill, the weekly grocery run. Family members who live elsewhere often arrange this on their parents' behalf and like knowing the name of the person behind the wheel. The chauffeur helps with the door and the walker, waits outside the appointment, and drives at the pace that suits the passenger.
A safe drive home after surgery or a day procedure
Clinics and hospitals tell patients not to drive for a set time after sedation or anaesthetic, and the discharge nurse will want to know how you are getting home. A chauffeur can drive you there in your own car in the morning and bring you and the car home afterwards from the University Avenue hospitals, the clinics along Bloor, or a surgical centre in Etobicoke or Vaughan. One caution: many clinics also require a responsible adult to accompany or collect the patient, and some will not accept a hired driver for that role. Check the clinic's own rule first; if they require a friend or relative to be with you, the chauffeur can drive that person too.
Airport drops with the car driven home
This is the use our name was built on. Instead of leaving your car in an airport lot for two weeks, the chauffeur drives you to Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 at Pearson in your own car, unloads the luggage at departures, and then drives the car back to your driveway in Etobicoke, Oakville or Aurora. When you land, the chauffeur brings the car back to collect you at the terminal. Each run is billed by the hour with the 4-hour minimum, so it pays off most for longer trips, for travellers who would otherwise pay long-stay parking, or when the drop is combined with other errands the same morning. If you would rather not use your own car at all, a standard Pearson airport pickup in one of our cars is the simpler choice, with flight tracking and free waiting time built in.
Cars delivered to and from Pearson parking
Sometimes the car is already at the airport. You flew out from one terminal and came home through another city, you returned on a different date, or you simply do not want to make the shuttle trip back to a long-stay lot. Give us the parking product, the level and the bay, and a chauffeur can retrieve the car and deliver it to your home or office, or bring it to the terminal to meet you. Pearson's parking options range from the terminal garages to the value lots; parking fees remain yours and any we pay on your behalf are billed at actual cost.
The cottage drive to Muskoka
Friday northbound on Highway 400 is one of the slowest drives in Ontario. Put a chauffeur in your SUV, load the dog, the coolers and the children, and spend the trip to Port Carling, Bracebridge or Huntsville reading or sleeping. Because the cottage is out of town, the out-of-town rate of $142.50 an hour applies, along with the $100 travel allowance and the chauffeur's hotel if you want the chauffeur to stay over and drive you back on Sunday. Many families instead book it as two one-way drives, with the car left at the cottage for the week. The route itself is covered on our Pearson to Muskoka page, which is useful when some of the family are flying in.
The rear seat you already own: a chauffeur lets you use it for work or rest on every trip
What the chauffeur brings, and what you provide
The chauffeur brings the skill and the discipline: a valid Ontario licence of the right class, a clean driving record, Toronto vehicle-for-hire licensing, a dark suit, a charged phone, and familiarity with the region from the Waterloo tech corridor to Oshawa. They arrive early, check the route against live traffic, and know where to wait at a hotel, a hospital or a stadium. They do not smoke in your car, play their own music or make personal calls while driving, and they leave the cabin the way they found it.
You provide the car, roadworthy and insured, with its ownership and insurance slips in the glovebox, enough fuel or charge for the day (or permission for the chauffeur to stop and refuel, with the arrangement recorded in the written agreement), a working transponder if you use the 407, and any child seats already fitted. If the car has a quirk, such as a sticky key fob or a passenger door that needs a firm push, say so in the booking note.
Tolls, parking and the 407
Tolls on Highway 407 ETR are billed to the registered owner of the plate, either through a transponder or by camera, so on your own car those charges reach you directly from 407 ETR. Any parking the chauffeur pays while waiting for you, a hospital garage, a downtown lot or an airport cell area, is passed on at actual cost with the receipt. Wi-Fi does not apply on your own car unless you have it. That keeps the bill simple: hours at $95 within the city or $142.50 outside it, the travel allowance and hotel on out-of-town jobs, and whatever parking you asked the chauffeur to use.
Licensing, screening and the people we send
Every chauffeur who drives for us, in our cars or yours, is screened before the first job with criminal-record and driving-record checks, and carries the vehicle-for-hire licence the City of Toronto requires for professional drivers; the City's licensing page explains the framework. They are trained in defensive driving and in working around high-profile passengers, and can work under a signed non-disclosure agreement, described in the NDA section below. For private households we try to keep the same one or two chauffeurs on your account so that the person who drives your parents to their appointments is somebody they recognise.
When a different program fits better
A chauffeur for your own car is one of nine hire programs, and it is not always the best one. If you need a driver for a few days or weeks while you are in town, look at short-term chauffeur hire. If the chauffeur will become part of the household, with the school run, the cottage and the airport all in one relationship, the private chauffeur page covers that model. And if the car itself is the problem, too old, too small or in the body shop, book one of ours by the hour through the hourly chauffeur service or the fleet.

Any dedicated, long-term or high-profile booking from Pearson or anywhere in the GTA can run under a signed non-disclosure agreement. We already work that way for:
Ministers, officials and their staffConsuls general and visiting delegationsCelebrities and public figuresAthletes, coaches and team staffMusicians, artists and touring crewsExecutives, boards and family offices
Signed before the first address
Send us your non-disclosure agreement or ask for ours; it is signed before a passenger name, a flight number or a hotel reaches dispatch. Every chauffeur and coordinator on the account signs a personal confidentiality undertaking as well.
Only the people who need it
The assigned chauffeur, a named backup and your account coordinator are the only people who can open the itinerary. A code name can stand in for the passenger on the booking, the sign and the invoice.
No photos, no posts, no stories
Chauffeurs never photograph, film, post or repeat anything about a passenger, a route, a hotel or a meeting, during the job or after it. A breach ends that chauffeur's work with us.
Quiet doors at Pearson and in town
Private-aviation terminals, hotel service entrances, loading docks and underground garages are agreed in advance. The cars carry no company markings, and a name board appears only if you ask for one.
Screened before the first job
Criminal-record and driving-record checks before the first assignment and again at renewal, Toronto vehicle-for-hire licensing, and briefings on protocol, defensive driving and high-profile passengers.
Records kept lean
Trip records stay with your account team only as long as the agreement and the law require, and leave it only with your written consent or where the law compels disclosure.
How much does it cost to hire a chauffeur to drive my own car?
Within Toronto the rate is $95 an hour with a 4-hour minimum, so the shortest booking is $380, taxes and 20% gratuity included. Outside the city it rises to $142.50 an hour, plus a $100 flat travel allowance and the chauffeur's hotel for any night away. No kilometre charge applies on your own car.
Does my car insurance cover a hired chauffeur?
That depends entirely on your policy and insurer. Many Ontario policies extend to drivers using the car with the owner's permission, but paid drivers can be treated differently. Ask your broker in writing whether a hired professional chauffeur is covered, and keep the answer. We do not provide insurance for client vehicles.
Why is there no kilometre charge on the chauffeur-only service?
On our own cars the 150 km daily allowance and the extra-km rate cover fuel, wear and depreciation of a vehicle we own. On your car those costs are already yours, so we bill only the chauffeur's hours. Long drives cost the same per hour as short ones; only the out-of-town rate changes the hourly figure.
Can the chauffeur drive my car to Pearson and take it home?
Yes. The chauffeur drives you to Terminal 1 or Terminal 3, drops you at departures and returns the car to your home, then brings it back to collect you when you land. Each run is billed by the hour with the 4-hour minimum within the city, which suits longer trips where airport parking would add up.
Can a chauffeur take me home after a day surgery?
A chauffeur can drive you to the hospital or clinic in your own car and bring you home afterwards. Check the clinic's discharge rules first, because many require a responsible adult to accompany the patient and some will not accept a hired driver alone. If so, the chauffeur can drive your companion as well.
Will I get the same chauffeur each time?
For repeat clients we keep the same one or two chauffeurs on the account wherever the schedule allows, so seniors and families see a familiar face. For guaranteed continuity on a set number of hours each month, reserve a chauffeur-only block through the monthly program, starting at 40 hours for $3,800.
Can the chauffeur drive my car to the cottage in Muskoka?
Yes. Cottage drives are billed at the out-of-town rate of $142.50 an hour, with the $100 travel allowance and the chauffeur's hotel if they stay to drive you back. Many families book two one-way drives instead, leaving the car at the cottage for the week and sending the chauffeur home separately.
What kinds of cars will your chauffeurs drive?
Any roadworthy, insured passenger car or SUV that the chauffeur's licence allows, including electric and hybrid models, luxury sedans and large three-row SUVs. Tell us in advance about manual gearboxes, trailers, roof boxes or unusual controls. Vehicles that need a commercial licence class, such as large vans or buses, are quoted separately.
Who pays for fuel, parking and 407 tolls?
Fuel or charging is yours, because it is your car; agree in the booking whether the chauffeur may refuel for you. 407 ETR bills the plate owner directly. Parking the chauffeur pays while waiting for you is passed on at actual cost with the receipt, so you only pay what the lot charged.
Can I book a chauffeur for my car for a whole month?
Yes. Chauffeur-only hours can be reserved in monthly blocks of 40, 80, 120 or 220 hours at the same $95 hourly rate, from $3,800 a month. A yearly arrangement locks that rate for twelve months. Unused hours do not roll over, so pick the block closest to your real schedule.
