Toronto Airport to Canada's Wonderland

Canada's Wonderland is the country's largest amusement park — the roller coasters visible from the 400, the water park behind them, the mountain in the middle — twenty-five minutes from the Pearson curb by the 407, which makes it the closest big day out to the airport and the one a family does on the day they land. This page is the transfer, the timing of the gates, the seasons and the hotels around the park.

How far is Canada's Wonderland from Pearson Airport?

Twenty-five to thirty-five minutes. The route is the 427 north to the 407, east to the 400 and north one exit to Rutherford Road, and the park's entrance off Jane Street at the front gate's drop-off, delivered as a fixed fare by vehicle class with the 407 toll included and the child seats fitted before the pickup; the untolled route up the 400 from the 401 adds ten minutes. Curbside pickup at Pearson's pre-arranged area is included with sixty minutes of waiting on international arrivals and thirty on domestic; meet and greet inside the hall is a paid add-on. The reservation engine shows the fare before you pay.

The public route is the subway to Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and a York Region bus to the park — ninety minutes from Pearson with the UP Express and the changes, and a family with a stroller does not do it after a flight. A taxi is a metered run on the 407 or the 400. The chauffeur is the version where the fare is known, the seats are in and the car is at the gate when the children have had enough; the family page explains the seats and the vehicles, and the York University page covers the same corner of the city.

The gates, the timing and the day of arrival

The park's front gate is off Jane Street at the end of the entrance drive, with a drop-off loop the chauffeur uses to unload the stroller and the bags before the family walks to the gate; the parking lots beyond it fill by eleven on a summer Saturday, which is the reason a chauffeured drop beats a family car in the queue. The gates open at ten and the coasters at ten-thirty, the water park at eleven, and the day of arrival works like this: a flight landing at Pearson at nine is at the gate by eleven with the luggage in the boot, the family has the afternoon in the park, and the chauffeur returns at the booked hour or holds by the hour and takes the family to the hotel; a late-afternoon landing is a hotel night and the park at opening the next day. Timed and dated tickets are bought from Canada's Wonderland and the chauffeur times the drop to them.

The seasons: summer, Halloween Haunt, WinterFest

Wonderland runs from May to the end of October and again in December. The summer season is the coasters and Splash Works, the water park behind the mountain with its wave pool and slides; the fall is Halloween Haunt on the weekends, the park after dark with the haunted mazes and the teenagers who arrive in groups of eight on the Sprinter; and WinterFest turns the park into a lights-and-skating festival from late November through the holidays, the one season a family flying in for Christmas in Toronto adds. Each season has its own crowd and its own timing, and the chauffeur knows which gate and which hour; the Halloween Haunt pickups at eleven at night are on the event pattern with the point texted before the family comes out.

Vaughan Mills, the hotels and the night before

Vaughan Mills — the outlet mall — is across Rutherford Road from the park, and the hotels around the two are the family's base: the Hilton Garden Inn and the Marriott Courtyard on the Jane Street corridor, the Holiday Inn Express, and the Hilton Toronto/Vaughan at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre ten minutes south, with the Best Western properties further along the 400. A family flying in the evening before the park books the Pearson-to-hotel transfer and the short hotel-to-gate run at opening, and the outlet mall is the rain day and the shopping stop on the way home; the airport-strip hotels on Dixon Road are the alternative base, fifteen minutes from the park.

Groups, birthdays and the Sprinter

Wonderland's group traffic is the birthday party, the school trip, the camp and the corporate family day: a party of ten from Mississauga or Brampton in the Executive Sprinter, collected from one or two addresses, delivered to the loop and returned at the booked hour, one fare for the vehicle split however the group likes; a school from Kingston or Buffalo on the coach with a manifest and the seats for the youngest, invoiced to the school on a corporate account; a company's family day with the Sprinter and the coach on one manifest from the office. A team of teenagers for Halloween Haunt is the Sprinter with a set return at closing and the chauffeur at the loop at the minute.

Accessible visits and the grandparents

The park has accessible entrances, a ride-access programme and rentable wheelchairs at the gate, and a visit with a grandparent who uses a walker is a common booking: the SUV with the raised seat or the Sprinter with the step, the accessible bay at the loop, and the pace at the curb the accessible page describes. Three generations flying in for a week are the Sprinter with seats for the children and a chair for the grandmother, and Wonderland is the day the grandparents watch from the shade.

What the fare includes

The fare from Pearson to Canada's Wonderland is fixed by vehicle class and includes the chauffeur, the vehicle, fuel, the 407 toll, taxes, the child seats, curbside pickup at the pre-arranged area and the included waiting with the flight tracked; meet and greet is the paid add-on; gratuity is never added; a cancellation before dispatch is free; the park's own tickets are bought from the park, not from us.

The season pass family and the standing booking

Wonderland sells season passes that a Vaughan or Brampton family uses ten times a summer, and the families who fly in — grandparents from overseas for a month, cousins from Calgary for two weeks — join them: the standing booking from the family's door to the loop on the days the pass is used, the same chauffeur, the seats left fitted for the fortnight, and the return at the booked hour. The family page explains the seats; the fare from a Vaughan or Brampton address is lower than the Pearson one because it is closer, and both are fixed.

Splash Works and the summer afternoon

The water park behind the mountain — the wave pool, the slides, the lazy river — opens at eleven in the summer and is the afternoon a family plans around: the coasters in the morning when the queues are short, Splash Works after lunch when the heat is up, and the drive home at five with the towels in the boot and the children asleep before the 407. The chauffeur's practical note is the change of clothes: the Sprinter's rear compartment is the changing room a family with three children needs, and the return pickup at the loop is timed to the water park's closing rather than the coasters'.

The corporate family day and the incentive

Wonderland's group sales sell the corporate family day — a company's employees and their families with the park's catering pavilions for lunch — and the transport is a corporate account booking: the Sprinter and the coach from the office or the company's hotel on one manifest, the drop at the group entrance beside the main gate, and the return at the booked hour; a company with visitors from its offices in Montréal or Calgary adds the airport transfers on the same manifest. The Dixon Road hotels are fifteen minutes from the gate and the company's base for a two-day event.

Halloween Haunt: the teenagers' night and the late pickup

Halloween Haunt turns the park into its after-dark version on the September and October weekends — the haunted mazes, the scare zones, the coasters in the dark — and its crowd is the teenagers who come in groups: eight from a Mississauga high school, a birthday party of ten from Vaughan, the cousins visiting from Calgary with the local ones. The Sprinter is the vehicle, the parents book it, and the practical points are the ones a parent wants: a set return at closing with the chauffeur at the loop at the minute, the pickup point texted to the group leader ten minutes before, the chauffeur's name and photograph sent to the parents the day before, and a text to the parents when the group is in the car. The 400 at midnight on a Haunt Saturday is a queue at the park's exits, and the chauffeur knows the Rutherford Road side.

FAQ

Canada's Wonderland: questions answered

Can we go straight from the flight to the park?

Yes — a morning landing is at the gate by eleven with the luggage in the boot, and the chauffeur takes the family to the hotel afterwards on one confirmation. A late-afternoon landing is better as a hotel night and the park at opening.

Are child seats included?

Yes — infant, convertible and booster seats fitted before the pickup at no charge, with the children's ages given at booking; the stroller rides in the boot.

Does the fare include the 407 toll?

Yes. The 407 to the 400 is the fast route and its toll is inside the fixed fare; the chauffeur uses the 401 and the 400 when the 407 offers no advantage.

Where does the chauffeur drop at the park?

The drop-off loop at the front gate off Jane Street; the return pickup is at the same loop with the point texted when the family is ready.

Can the chauffeur wait while we are in the park?

Yes — at the hourly rate in fifteen-minute units, holding at Vaughan Mills. For a full day a return booked for a set time is the cheaper choice, and the chauffeur is at the loop at the minute.

Which hotels are close to the park?

The Hilton Garden Inn and the Courtyard on Jane Street are five minutes; the Hilton at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre ten; the Dixon Road airport hotels fifteen. All are a fixed fare from Pearson.

Do you do Halloween Haunt pickups late at night?

Yes — on the event pattern, with the chauffeur at the loop at closing and the point texted before the group comes out. A group of eight teenagers is the Sprinter with a set return.

Is WinterFest worth adding to a Christmas visit?

Yes — the park runs a lights-and-skating festival from late November through the holidays, and a family in Toronto for Christmas adds it as an evening twenty-five minutes from the airport hotels.

Do you take school groups and birthday parties?

Yes. Up to ten in the Sprinter and more in the coach, on a manifest with seats for the youngest; schools are invoiced on a corporate account.

Is the park accessible for a grandparent?

Yes — accessible entrances, a ride-access programme and rentable chairs at the gate; the SUV or the Sprinter carries the walker and the chauffeur uses the accessible bay at the loop.

Does the fare include park tickets?

No. Dated tickets are bought from the park's site and the chauffeur times the drop to the opening hour.

Can we stop at Vaughan Mills on the way home?

Yes — it is across the road from the park, and a stop of up to twenty minutes is part of the fare; a longer shopping run is booked by the hour.

How does the chauffeur compare with an Uber or a taxi from Toronto airport to Canada's Wonderland?

An Uber or a taxi is priced by the minute on the 407 or the 400 with surge and rarely has a child seat; the chauffeur's fare is fixed for the park before you fly, includes the 407 toll, the seats and the waiting on a delayed flight, and is at the loop at the booked hour for the return.

Can a family with a season pass book a standing car for a fortnight?

Yes — the same chauffeur from the family's door to the loop on the days the pass is used, the seats left fitted, and the return at the booked hour; a Vaughan or Brampton address prices lower than Pearson and both are fixed.

Is there somewhere to change after Splash Works?

The park has changing rooms at the water park, and the Sprinter's rear compartment is the one a family with three children uses at the loop; the return is timed to the water park's closing.
